Jeannie Jarnot had a vision for bringing the thrill of discovery to life and creating an in-store experience that was filled with surprise and delight, just like her monthly subscription service. Read this exclusive access interview to learn the behind-the-scenes of the making of a Blue Beauty Brick & Mortar.
One brand, one full sized product? What’s the fun in that? Only 5 short years ago, when Beauty Heroes just launched, this sentiment was expressed more than once. In an era of sample boxes, our concept was disruptive, and it … Continued
In our modern world of over-saturation an abundance of options and short attention span, it’s important to me that we stay connected to our values of conscious consumption. Rather than always introduce only new brands, I often fall back on a tried-and-true (and somewhat outdated) virtue: when I find a good thing, I stick with it. It should come as no surprise that I often return to a brand we’ve featured before in our Monthly Discovery. Such is the case with Maya Chia. This month, as we celebrate the brand’s third Hero product, I’m confident you will understand why Maya Chia is a brand that I simply can’t get enough of.
So far we’ve shared with you our Blue Beauty Commitments and Best Practices companies can adopt to actively fade into blue. Now its your turn, and let’s be honest, until you – WE – decide to make new, blue buying decisions, things aren’t going to change all that much. Contributing to a bluer planet is a team sport, and you are the team captain. It’s game time.
Since its Beauty Heroes debut in November 2018, Dino Apparel has been one of my wardrobe mainstays, taking me from the office to errands to dinner with friends, not to mention my go-to uniform for near every single flight or road trip. A devotee of both form and function, Dino Apparel is versatile with designs that fit, flatter and allow me to move, a must for any working mother. While I own practically every piece Dino Apparel has created and wear them all in constant rotation, it’s the jumpsuit that really jumped out at me when I discovered it last year on a photoshoot. I instantly fell in love with the flattering shape and its effortless, year-round lounge – travel – work functionality. If I had to wear only one thing for the rest of my life, this would be it.
When I met Graydon Moffatt, vegan chef, yoga instructor, beauty alchemist and Founder of the Canadian superfood skincare brand, Graydon Skincare, I was flooded with FOMO. Up until that moment, I had been missing out on one of the most … Continued
Project Blue Beauty celebrates healthy beauty brands built on the foundation of ingredient transparency and ethical sourcing and environmental stewardship. These pioneering companies put their money where their mouth is, and quite frankly, it’s inspiring. So inspiring, in fact, that we created a list for companies that want to live lighter and leave a legacy of positive impact. The following list is a compilation of practices and initiatives that we have seen in action and that provide proven positive impact on the planet.
While there is not one single and direct path to go from green to blue – it’s more like wading deeper and deeper into the ocean – we know that by setting our sights on the horizon line and visualizing what success looks like, we’ll get there faster. That is why we’ve established 10 Commitments that will guide us in our vetting process while providing inspiration to brands and our customers. While most of the brands we carry already meet many of these criteria, our hope is that these 10 Commitments will inspire even more action and that together, we’ll all do a little more to live a little lighter.
AYUNA wants us to pay more attention to our body. Inspired by the emerging field of psycho-dermatology that connects skin with our emotions, AYUNA introduces their concept of BEAUTIFULNESS, a discipline that adapts the teachings of mindfulness into the realm of beauty to stimulate the skin-brain connection through personal care. Their hypothesis is that reducing stress levels leads to more beautiful skin.
Living Lighter is how I think about approaching a less wasteful lifestyle. There is an amazing zero-waste movement happening all over the world that is so exciting to watch and be a part of. But, for most, the words zero-waste feel unattainable and maybe a little off-putting. But living lighter is something we can all do. It’s an everyday practice; a series of mini-challenges. We just need the tools. This is what inspired me to create a Living Lighter Discovery. For the last six months, I have been working on assembling a collection of the tools that help me live lighter. I am used to curating and telling one product and brand story at a time, so our first ever Living Lighter Discovery is different from our traditional model, but with good reason: to deliver on our promise to introduce our community to products that make our lives better and help us live lighter on the planet.
