AYUNA Skincare: Less is More

Over a decade and another lifetime ago, I knew Begoña Sanjuan as a master international educator, and she knew me as a Spa Director. We collaborated on several different events, and I always marveled at her depth of knowledge and passion for her work. Imagine my deja vu and delight when I connected with her again, this time each founders of our own companies. AYUNA skincare was founded by Begoña and her business partner Isabel Ramos, a scientist and master formulator. With over 40 years combined experience in skincare and spa, the two Spain-based beauty veterans created the AYUNA skincare line on the premise of “skin fasting”, a scientifically-sound practice of feeding skin only what it needs, essentially starving it of toxins, inflammatories and overstimulation. read more

A Bluer Shade of Green: The New Color of Clean Beauty

Tides have certainly turned in the beauty industry at large. No longer are we talking about “going green” as the latest trend, but a sea of change that has set a new course for indie brands and large conglomerates alike. Ingredient transparency, sustainable packaging, and recycling programs are common table stakes, practically a minimum requirement to play in the beauty space today. But is it enough? Do these measures really make an impact and if so, how much? Because if there’s one thing that unites the clean beauty industry more than anything, it’s integrity. And the efforts made by beauty brands to be as clean and green as possible are not merely to make marketing claims. The efforts are made in earnest to leave the planet better than they found it.read more

My Glass Sipper: A Tale of My Last Plastic Straw

As unconventional as it may be, this month I crossed a “bucket list” item off my list. Beauty Heroes delivered glass straws to our members around the world. Ever since the start of this company, I’ve imagined the day I would deliver a simple tool that would make it easier to use less and love more. I was inspired to create this offering because of a stranger I met four years ago in Santa Cruz. Here’s how she changed my life, and the life of countless others.read more

OSEA: A Family Affair

It’s not uncommon for beauty brand founders to be influenced by their ancestors and the recipes and remedies of days of yore. Vapour Organic Beauty Gets Clear On Green Beauty Packaging

Being a green beauty brand is about more than healthy, good for you, ingredients. The green beauty movement is also leading the way in sustainable packaging and business practices that support the health of our environment. While Vapour Organic Beauty’s green beauty packaging is secondary to the formula inside the bottle, it is still an important part of our experience with a brand, and any brand founder will tell you that it’s one of the most challenging parts of creating and sustaining a compelling beauty brand. Not only does packaging need to be functional, it must also be beautiful, adequately protect the product inside from the air and elements, and be as sustainable as possible. This month we celebrate the launch of Vapour Organic Beauty’s transition from plastic to glass packaging with our Limited Edition Discovery (that’s selling out in record time). I asked Kristine Keheley and Kyrsia Boinis to share with us just what is involved in a packaging update and more ways Vapour is leading the way in sustainable beauty. read more
