Before we get into this month’s DIY Beauty Ritual, I want to give you a little bit of background on how this month’s Hero + Sidekick came to be. It all started with this month’s Hero product, Brightening Cleanse and Exfoliate. I rediscovered this product myself last summer and fell in love with this versatile, waterless powder that can be employed in several ways; as an elegant polishing facial cleanser and scrub, as a booster to your favorite oil, gel or cream cleanser, as a spot treatment for blemishes or dark spots or as an easy to apply face mask.
Beauty Heroes continues to grow and evolve out of the learnings from our members, Brand Ambassadors, Spa Superheroes and the incredible group of Founders behind each of our clean beauty brands. It is this learning that inspires me to keep creating, keep envisioning “what’s next.” What I am most grateful for in 2015 was learning that there is a place for our service that delivers the very best in non-toxic beauty, one Hero Product at time. Thank you for being a part of this journey. While we’ll never give you More than you need (thus creating unnecessary waste), we certainly do plan on doing More of the things that bring us joy and make us feel beautiful. Here is our vision board for 2016.
Vintner’s Daughter was founded by April Gargiulo, whose family traditions of fine winemaking influenced not only the name of her company, but also her process. In an effort to simplify skincare and raise the bar in efficacy, April approaches skincare through simplicity and (for now) focuses all her attention on one product. Going down this path, April cuts through the excess in an industry that’s all about doing, selling and applying more, and elegantly embraces the ‘less is more’ ethos. Adding to her Beauty Superhero qualifications, she also donates 2% of every sale of Vintner’s Daughter to V Day, an organization dedicated to ending violence against women and girls. I recently met April at her gorgeous home overlooking the San Francisco Bay where shared with me exactly how she arrived at this point, and why it works for her.
