Highlighting the Aloha Glow

It’s been just over three years since launching our very first Honua Skincare Hero product, Aloha Youth Serum, which is still an everyday Hero product in my morning routine. Over the last few years, as I’ve witnessed Honua’s growth from indie beauty darling to leading Hawaiian skincare brand, I’ve remained impressed by the brand’s commitment to honoring native Hawaiian tradition, sustainably and ethically sourcing healing botanicals from the Hawaiian islands. With each new product, Honua fills a void in her own line, and in the clean beauty industry in general, only adding what is essential to one’s daily routine. Her commitment to minimalism is impressive, especially as an esthetician. She’s never one to overdo it, knowing that the skin only needs so much to be healthy, as evidenced by her own aloha glow.

Honua helps us end the year on a high note with not one, but two, product launches. December’s Hero product is the decadent Māhealani Moonlit Glow Balm, the richest and creamiest in the collection, formulated to nourish skin and highlight its natural glow. A base of locally sourced macadamia and kukui nut oils are rich in fortifying essential fatty acids, and native Liliko’i (passionfruit seed) delivers vitamin A, carotenoids and linoleic acid to plump skin’s appearance. Calming chamomile, clearing vetiver and balancing blue tansy sooth skin for a glowing complexion.

The balm is inspired by the fullest of the full moons of the year – which happens to be this month! – and is intended as a night balm, but can be used anytime during the day to remedy dry skin and deliver a subtle glow.

And, like beautiful moonlight, a little goes a long way. Māhealani can be used at any time of day, but we love her best at night, following The Honua Ritual, as her seductive scent and luxurious texture envelope skin and soul before you drift off to sleep.

Our Hero product is complemented by the refreshing hydrating mist, LĪhau, which translates to ‘soft rain’. This exquisite blend of plant hydrosols and organic essentials oils help to keep the skin supple, soothed and satisfied with each spritz. Featuring Hāloa ‘Āina sandalwood and neroli flower hydrosol, LĪhau is blended with aloe vera leaf juice and witch hazel to deliver gentle anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic benefits, while hyaluronic acid seals in moisture. The result is an aromatic hydrating mist that can be used throughout the day to refresh the skin, reset makeup and even rebalance acne-prone skin types.

To honor Honua’s double launch, this year’s final full moon and to welcome abundance in the year ahead, we share our Honua-exclusive ritual. In sticking with ancient Hawaiian tradition, we invite you to choose an evening for sacred ritual (hint: the full moon is on December 12th) or experiment with other beauty must-haves from the Beauty Store to customize your own ritual.

Here’s just one way to play:
